Basic Homebrew Equipment

Where to buy?
If you have access to a local homebrew shop, I strongly urge you to stop in and talk to someone.  It’s a great way to support local business, and nothing beats having a real-live person to talk to when you have questions.  If you live in the St. Louis area, St. Louis Wine & Beer is an excellent homebrew shop.  Yes, they’re way out in Manchester, but the paltry hour you spend just driving out there and back is well worth it.  I really can’t recommend them highly enough.

For those of you whose nearest homebrew shop is hardly “local”, fear not!  There are a number of online stores for the avid homebrewer, and they all offer suitable equipment kits.

All of these kits are capable of making great beer, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them.  You’ll just have to figure out what your budget is, and which upgrades you can (or can’t) live without.

What else do I need?
